Anxiously we await the fulfillment of our hope, the
glorious coming of our Savior.
Who
shall come in the fullness of time to
gladden the hearts of men?
Who
shall bring new joy to the world
and the poor and lonely defend?
Who
shall come on a cold winter’s night,
when the world is hushed and still?
Only
the silent stars keep watch as a
promise is fulfilled.
Just
as a Child newly born He shall come
to a stable rough with sod.
‘Tis
gentle Jesus, Prince of Peace, the
blessed Son of God!
We
await Him with reverent hearts,
O come Lord Jesus, come!

Mary E. Caldwell
Rouse
up your power, and come, O Lord to save us!
Drop
down dew, you heavens, from above and clouds rain down
the Just One. Let the earth be opened and bud
forth a Savior.
Behold the most lovable Jesus, who
is about to be born in our commemoration of the
forthcoming feast (of Christmas).
He is born to visit us on behalf of
the Eternal Father. In
return, visit Him as well, make Him welcome in your
heart, adore Him; imitate His humility ... His
gentleness. Nothing is so
pleasing to the heart of God than to see us persevering
in the exercise of these small virtues.
St. Francis de
Sales, Letters
Be ever ready to
receive Christ, for He is always ready to give Himself
to you.
Paraphrase of words
of St. Margaret Mary
Two important feasts of
Mary occur in Advent, and, as St. Margaret Mary says,
"Nothing can be more pleasing to God than the honor
paid to His Holy Mother."
