On July 17th the Vacation Bible School of Christ the King Parish came for a tour of the monastery and a brief instruction on the history of our community. These charming boys and girls were most attentive, courteous and well-behaved, a tribute to those responsible for their instruction and guidance.

Later that same day we welcomed members of the two United States federation councils of the Visitation Order for a joint meeting under the direction of Rev. Lewis Fiorelli, O.S.F.S. As always, it was a marvelous opportunity to meet sisters from other communities and renew our common bond of fidelity to the teachings of our founders.

On August 3rd and 4th a twenty-four hour retreat for married couples, directed by Fr. Stephen Hellman of St. Ignatius Parish, was attended by ten couples who made good use of the time to deepen their appreciation for their vocation and for each other, expressed by a renewal of their wedding vows at the closing.

This was followed by an Engaged Encounter on August 10th - 12th, which enabled 29 couples to enrich their understanding of the sacraments, especially Holy Eucharist and Matrimony, and to share their expectations, thoughts and feelings about various elements of married life and the need to include God in their relationship.

On August 17th - 19th, a new group came from north, east and west for a Reparatrix Retreat led by Josephite Father Joseph Doyle, author of many books and articles, the most recent of which is When Jesus was Twelve...

The Golf Tournament was very successful. The weather was perfect for an afternoon on the links, twelve great teams participated, refreshments were satisfying, prizes were appreciated, and a good time was had by all, as can be seen by the happy faces of the teams.

The weekend after Labor Day Mr. Michael Cumbie directed a retreat for 27 men. Mr. Paul Halladay was the captain who organized the scheduled events with the invaluable help of three local priests who provided Mass and opportunity for confession throughout the days of retreat.

Christmas Cards featuring Nativity stained glass windows in six of our Mobile churches have been designed especially for the purpose of augmenting our improvement fund.
