A MAGNIFICENT LEGACY

After having received a splendid Benediction cope, stole and humeral veil in 2013, we were once again honored with a gift which enhances the beauty of our times of adoration - an heirloom monstrance of magnificent craftsmanship.

It had originally been given to our Visitation Sisters of Villa de Chantal in Rock Island, Illinois, on December 8, 1913. When that community closed, some of the sisters transferred to our monastery in St. Louis, Missouri, and brought the monstrance with them as part of their patrimony and history.

Now that the St. Louis community is relocating to Catherine Place with the Sisters of Mercy, they offered us this exceptionally fine sacred vessel in order to preserve its place in the Visitation Order. We are privileged to have such a meaningful connection with the lives of so many generations of our sisters and their students, and to be entrusted to carry on their legacy of prayer.
